PeddiAssembler

Welding & Fabrication Robot

The PeddiAssembler, developed with Zeman and Lincoln Electric, automates the fitting and welding of connection plates and detail parts onto structural beams, tubes and channels. An ABB tacking and welding robot works beside a magnetic parts-handling robot and a scanning unit on a single rail: loose parts are scanned on a table, picked, placed on any of four sides of the profile and tacked or MAG welded with single or multi-pass seams up to 7/8 inch. Integrated turning devices clamp and rotate profiles up to 11,025 pounds through 360 degrees, and torch-mounted laser measurement sets the zero reference and checks tacked parts. Peddinghaus quotes about 1.5 minutes per part with 1/24 inch accuracy over a 60-foot profile. Envision 3D measurement is standard for quality control, and Zeman ProFit software on a Siemens control imports DSTV files from BIM systems.
